Saigon is starting to get a solid vegan/vegetarian scene, partly due to its young population finding healthier and more sustainable diets. Also, the prevalence of Buddhism plays a factor along with the many non-meat-eating tourists and ex-pats that visit or come to live in this beautiful city.
It’s not hard to find good food in Saigon; the streets are littered with fantastic restaurants, street vendors, bistros etc. Saigon is one of if not the best food city in Southeast Asia, well, at least I think so!
Unfortunately, it isn’t as easy to find great Vegan and Vegetarian establishments, so here’s my guide on the best Vegan and Vegetarian spots:
Wild Thyme is the first of its kind in Saigon, a Vegan & Vegetarian Tapas restaurant. They are constantly pushing the boundaries and eliminating the ridiculous stigma that vegan/vegetarian food is bland. Instead, their food is exciting, full of flavour and most importantly, delicious! Indeed, an authentic veggie/vegan fine-dining experience in Saigon!
My personal favourite is from their vegan menu (they have a vegan and vegetarian menu) Slow-Roasted Tartare with Tomato “Yolk”. This elegant dish mimics beef tartare with slow-roasted tomatoes standing in for meat, cornichons, capers, and Dijon mustard.
The restaurant is set in a beautiful villa, with a lovely outdoor bar area and stylish inside dining. So do not hesitate to go and check them out!

L’Herbanyste is a wonderful concept that creates vegan and vegetarian cuisine with Zero waste. L’herbanyste is an unbelievable brunching, sipping, eco-experience in Saigon that helps you escape the busyness with a beautiful green outside dining space that completely replenishes you.
Situated in a beautiful, bohemian-inspired villa, tucked down one of Thao Dien’s hems, L’Herbanyste wants to change the dynamic of how you spend your days. First, let’s talk about the menu and drinks; fresh and organic ingredients are abundant in their dishes and drinks. With lots to choose from, you’ll have a hard time choosing! My personal favourite is the avocado and poached eggs with toast, washed down with a hot latte, but I’ll let you discover your favourite!

Hum Vegetarian has three beautiful locations in districts 1, 2 and 3; Hum Vegetarian offers a cosy, elegant and calming atmosphere to enjoy delectable vegetarian food. The food is prepared on-site from various fresh beans, nuts, vegetables, flowers, and fruits.
Nutritious and straightforward, the dishes are made using entirely natural ingredients by their chefs’ attentive hands, resulting in creations that are not only flavoursome and aromatic but also aesthetically beautiful.
Their special drinks mixed from equally fresh ingredients provide optimum health benefits while creatively pleasing one’s eyes and gracefully quenching one’s thirst, making them hard to forget and providing healthy vegetarian dishes in eye-catching decoration.
Hum desires to contribute a more friendly and positive perspective towards vegetarianism. They believe that vegetarian food, which is meticulously created with diverse sources of ingredients from nature, can provide the full nutrients people need while remaining exciting and delicious!

Planta is an all-Vegan eatery down a lovely slight hem in Thao Dien; they share a venue with Wild Thyme. So, you can sit by the pool surrounded by trees and plants and enjoy the marvellous food and drink they offer or sit indoors. Choose from many healthy vegan options; I went for the Beet bun chickpea burger, which did not disappoint! Planta is a must-visit for any vegan here in Saigon.
