Five years ago we published a list of five cafés to work from in Saigon. The city has moved on: there are now more laptop-friendly cafés in Thảo Điền alone than there were in the whole of District 1 back then, and the metro means you can cross town for a good one.
So we have rebuilt the guide from the ground up. The backbone is a Google Maps list called Best Work Cafes in Saigon, put together by Edwin from the Saigon Digital Network, a Facebook group for the city’s remote workers and professionals. His brief was simple: comfortable, air-conditioned, and happy to let you sit with a laptop and a cà phê sữa đá. We pulled the details for every one of the 52 places on it, added our own partner venues and a handful of picks he missed, and put the whole lot on one map.
How to read this list. Our partner cafés come first, because that is where your Saigon Scene membership saves you money. Then six extra picks. Then Edwin’s full list, sorted by neighbourhood and by Google rating. Every entry has an address, a rating, Sunday’s opening hours from Google (most cafés keep the same hours all week, but check before a 6 AM start), and a map link.
One housekeeping note: Vietnam abolished district-level administration on 1 July 2025, so “District 1” and “District 7” no longer formally exist. Everyone still uses them, and so do we.

1. Bazzarilli Coffee & Bar
Tôn Thất Đạm is one of the calmer streets in the centre, and Bazzarilli is the calmest thing on it. The room is done out in a 19th-century Italian style, the espresso and cappuccino are properly Italian, and the mid-morning crowd is mostly people with a laptop and a peach tea.
It shares its building with Snuffbox, the speakeasy that takes over at night, so the day shift is deliberately quiet. Arrive after 8 AM, leave by 6 PM, and if the deadline slips you can stay for an aperitivo spritz.

2. Refined Coffee & Cocktails
A few doors along the same stretch of Tôn Thất Đạm, Refined does precision-poured speciality coffee in the morning and cocktails that would hold their own in Tokyo after dark. Low light, high standards, and a room that never gets loud.
It is a good pick for a working lunch that turns into a client drink, because you do not have to move. Espresso and pour-over by day, a Negroni when the laptop closes.

3. L’Usine Lê Thánh Tôn
L’Usine has been part of Saigon’s café furniture since 2009, and the Lê Thánh Tôn branch is the one to work from. Industrial-chic interior, a concept store to wander through when you need a break, and an all-day breakfast menu that stretches a two-hour session into an afternoon.
It is busier than the Tôn Thất Đạm pair, so it suits emails and calls more than deep focus. Workmode measured the Lê Lợi branch at around 50 Mbps both ways, which is plenty for video calls.

4. Dulce de Saigon
A small bakery-café in an alley off Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai, a short walk from the zoo and botanical gardens. Dulce bakes fresh every morning and does proper Western desserts, which is rarer in Saigon than it should be.
The cinnamon roll and coffee deal is the reason to come for a morning session, and the lattes are very good. It is a small room, so treat it as a two-hour spot rather than a day-long base.

5. Dolphy Café (Thảo Điền)
Open since 2013 and a Thảo Điền institution, Dolphy is built around authentic Italian-style coffee made with Vietnamese beans. The Hẻm 28 Thảo Điền branch is the original, it opens at 6 AM, and the baristas are the friendliest in the neighbourhood.
Edwin’s list also includes the newer An Phú branch at 113 Dương Văn An, which scores a touch higher on Google and has more room to spread out. Both take the Saigon Scene discount.

6. Twist Cafe & Bar
On Xuân Thủy, the main café strip in Thảo Điền, Twist is a morning coffee and people-watching spot that becomes a bar in the evening. It is open from 7 AM until midnight, so it covers the early start and the late finish.
Owner Phuong runs a warm room, and Twist is a hub for Saigon’s LGBTQ community, with regular events. Come for the daytime session, stay when the music starts.

7. MERAKI Record Store & Art Cafe
Half record store, half streetwear shop, half café, which is one half too many but MERAKI makes it work. The vinyl wall runs from deep techno to ambient, and the coffee is strong enough to keep up.
This is the pick for creative work rather than spreadsheets. Music is always on, the crowd is young, and a crate-dig is the best kind of break.

8. 11:11 Espace
Inside the Amanaki building on Nguyễn Đăng Giai, 11:11 Espace is a café, a bar, an art gallery and an event space in one. The coffee and bar side runs 9 AM to 6 PM daily, which is office hours in all but name.
It is quiet, the art changes regularly, and it holds one of the highest Google ratings on this list. If you need to book a room for a workshop or a team offsite, the event space is upstairs.

9. Eddie’s New York Deli & Diner
Not a café, but it earns its place. Eddie’s is a 1950s-style American diner on Thảo Điền street with free Wi-Fi, bottomless coffee, and an all-day breakfast. It seats over 100, so there is always a booth.
Bring a laptop for the early shift from 8 AM, when the room is quiet, and order the Reuben when you hit lunch. Goats On The Road lists it as one of their favourite laptop spots in the city for the same reason we do: nobody hurries you.

Edwin’s list leans towards Thảo Điền and the south. These six fill the gaps: three purpose-built working cafés, two centre-of-town classics, and one that never closes.
10. Murmur Working Cafe
Murmur was designed from the ground up as a working café, and it shows: a socket at every seat, a quiet-room policy, and the fastest Wi-Fi anyone has measured in the city. Workmode clocked 146 Mbps down and 167 Mbps up.
Hours are strict office hours, 8:30 AM to 6 PM, so it is a day base rather than an evening one. Go here when you have to ship something.

11. WorkFlow Space Hai Bà Trưng
The sister site to WorkFlow Thảo Điền, which is on Edwin’s list below. Both are hybrids: a café at the front, a proper working space behind it, with meeting rooms and desks you can book by the hour.
Laptopfriendly rates this branch 96 percent for working. If you want something between a café and a coworking membership, this is the model to try.

12. Work Cafe
Right on the Hoàng Sa canal road, Work Cafe does what the name says. The café floor has ample seating, power outlets and free Wi-Fi, and there is a paid coworking upgrade with desk chairs and bigger desks for a few dollars a day.
It is a favourite with Vietnamese freelancers and students, so it fills up by mid-morning. Arrive early for the canal-side seats.

13. OKKIO Lê Lợi
Up a narrow spiral staircase above Lê Lợi, OKKIO is Japanese-inspired, jazz-soundtracked and one of the most pleasant rooms in the city centre. It was on our original list in 2021 and it still deserves the spot.
Espresso, pour-over, egg coffee and coconut coffee are all done well, and the homemade baked goods are worth the calories. Reliable free Wi-Fi and staff who leave you alone.

14. Paper & I
On Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa near the Independence Palace, Paper & I is spacious, quiet and heavy on power sockets. Workmode measured the download speed at 218 Mbps, the fastest in their Saigon dataset, though the upload was poor when they tested.
That makes it ideal for research and writing and less good for video calls. Bring a hotspot as a backup for meetings.

15. Kalita Kafé
Open 24 hours, 365 days a year, including Tết. Kalita is where Saigon’s night workers go: the Trường Sa canal road is quiet after 10 PM and the café stays lit, air-conditioned and caffeinated.
It is not fancy, and the Google rating reflects a room that is more useful than beautiful. For a US-hours call at 2 AM, it is exactly right.

Thảo Điền and An Phú
Thirteen of Edwin’s picks are here, which tells you where Saigon’s remote workers actually live. Nguyễn Duy Hiệu, Xuân Thủy and Tống Hữu Định are the streets to know; the An Phú grid behind them is quieter and newer.

Café etiquette for remote workers in Saigon
- Buy something every two to three hours. One coffee for a six-hour session is the fastest way to get a café to unplug the sockets.
- Ask before taking a call. Most rooms on this list are fine with it; a few of the quieter ones, Murmur especially, are not.
- Mobile data is your backup. Viettel and Vinaphone 4G and 5G are fast and cheap. If the Wi-Fi drops, tether.
- Power is not guaranteed. Charge before you leave home. The purpose-built working cafés (WorkFlow, Murmur, Work Cafe, The Workstation) are the ones that promise a socket per seat.
- Tip the app, not the staff. Tipping is not expected in Vietnamese cafés. Showing your Saigon Scene membership at a partner venue is expected, if you want the discount.

Which area of Saigon is best for working from cafés?
Thảo Điền has the highest concentration of laptop-friendly cafés, with 13 on Edwin's list alone plus six Saigon Scene partners. District 1 has the most-reviewed rooms (The Workshop, The Running Bean) and District 3 has the best roasters (Every Half, Là Việt). Bình Thạnh is the cheapest and has the most late-night options.
Are there 24-hour cafés in Ho Chi Minh City?
Yes. Thức Coffee on Lý Tự Trọng in District 1, Soco Saigon Coffee on Ung Văn Khiêm in Bình Thạnh and Kalita Kafé on Trường Sa in Phú Nhuận are all open 24 hours. The Workstation Coffee in Bình Thạnh is open until midnight and Twist in Thảo Điền until midnight.
Is café Wi-Fi in Saigon fast enough for video calls?
Usually. Workmode measured Murmur Working Cafe at 146 Mbps down and 167 Mbps up, and most speciality cafés sit between 25 and 60 Mbps. A few big rooms are slow (Oromia measured 3 Mbps), so keep a 4G or 5G hotspot as a backup. Viettel and Vinaphone data is cheap and fast across the city.
Do Saigon cafés mind if you work on a laptop all day?
Most do not, as long as you keep ordering. A drink every two to three hours is the unwritten rule. Purpose-built working cafés such as WorkFlow, Murmur, Work Cafe and The Workstation expect long sessions and provide a socket at every seat. Saigon Scene members get 10 percent off at partner cafés, which makes a full day cheaper.
