About Mamacita Thảo Điền
Mediterranean coastal food in Thao Dien from chef Julio Gomez, on the site that was Mamacita until September 2026. The District 1 original holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026.
La Lola Thảo Điền is the second restaurant from chef Julio Gomez, serving Mediterranean coastal food at 80 Xuân Thủy in An Khánh Ward. It opened in September 2026 on the site that was Mamacita, and the sign on the building changed with it.
From Mamacita to La Lola
If you knew Mamacita, the pink-fronted Latin restaurant Julio opened in Thảo Điền, this is its next chapter. He cooked at Tomatito and Mia Saigon before going it alone, and rather than run two different concepts he has brought both of his restaurants under one name. His own words for the pair: “both locations, La Lola Saigon and La Lola Thảo Điền.”
The cooking moved with the name. Mamacita was Latin American and Friday-night Mexican. La Lola is Mediterranean, drawing on Italy, France, Spain, Morocco, Turkey and Greece, and the District 1 kitchen sums its own approach up as “one chef, one sea”.
The Michelin question, answered honestly
La Lola Saigon, the District 1 original at 82 Lý Tự Trọng, holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026. That award belongs to that restaurant. Thảo Điền is a new room and is not separately listed, so if you are coming for the Bib specifically, District 1 is where it was earned.
Booking and the menu
The menu and reservations for both restaurants are at lalolasaigon.com. The District 1 branch takes bookings on 0987 350 006 and says walk-ins are always welcome. Golden Hour runs at both restaurants every day from 2pm to 6pm: buy one, get one free on selected wines by the glass, at around 170,000–190,000₫ a glass before service charge and VAT.

Not to be confused with
There is a separate, unrelated restaurant called Lola’s at 97B Thảo Điền, run by Al Fresco’s Group on the site that was Jaspas. Different owner, different food, different street number, and not a Saigon Scene partner. If you are looking for Julio’s place, it is number 80 Xuân Thủy.
