The short answer
Start at 7 Bridges Brewing Co. on Đông Du, where 40 taps over three floors make it the widest pour in the city, then walk to Pasteur Street‘s original upstairs taproom for a Jasmine IPA. If you only have one night, those two plus Heart of Darkness and East West on Lý Tự Trọng make a downtown crawl you can do entirely on foot.
Saigon has been brewing serious craft beer for more than a decade, and the scene has changed a lot since we first wrote this guide in 2024. Ong Cao has closed, as have the LAC and Winking Seal taprooms and Tê Tê’s pub on Nguyễn Văn Thủ, and we could no longer confirm that Broma still pours craft beer. So they are out. In their place are Rooster Beers, now with six taprooms, and Steersman, which moved to Bình Thạnh this year. Every venue below was checked in September 2026 for address, opening hours and what is on tap.
One housekeeping note: Vietnam abolished district-level administration on 1 July 2025, so addresses now use the new ward names (Sài Gòn Ward, Tân Định Ward and so on). We give both, because everyone still says “District 1”.

How much is a craft beer in Saigon?
Expect to pay roughly 90,000–165,000₫ for a half-litre of house beer at a downtown taproom, with daily specials on lighter beers from around 70,000₫. Customer reports from 2025 put a half-litre of Pasteur Street at 99,000₫ and East West’s IPA at 135,000₫, with East West’s pilsner special at 69,000₫. Imperial stouts and double IPAs cost more than the core range everywhere.
Tasting flights are the smart way in. Pasteur Street’s six-taster flight at its Lý Tự Trọng taproom was 285,000₫ in early 2026. Happy hours help too: Malt runs 3–7pm daily, Belgo 3–6pm, and BiaCraft’s “Toss the Boss” hour (5–6pm) gives you a free drink if you call a coin toss correctly.
1. 7 Bridges Brewing Co.

7 Bridges started in a garage in Da Nang in April 2017 and is now one of the most recognisable names in Vietnamese craft beer, with taprooms in Hanoi, Hoi An and Ninh Binh as well as two in Saigon. The Đông Du taproom, opened in January 2024, is the one to head for if you want choice: 40 taps across three floors, pouring the full 7 Bridges range plus guest beers and cider from other Vietnamese craft producers. The original on Lê Thánh Tôn, in the Japantown alleys, is the late-night option, open until 2am with a cocktail bar upstairs.
The core range is easy drinking and built for the heat: Dragon, the session IPA the brewery is best known for, Sơn Trà Haze, Beach and Sunset. What sets 7 Bridges apart is its zero-waste approach. Spent grain goes into the pizza dough and bread, spent yeast and hops become soap, and its Upcycle Pale Ale is brewed with leftover pizza dough. It is also a genuinely good place to eat: the Champion Burger made our best burgers in Saigon list.
It is also the brewery to beat right now: at the 2025 Asia Beer Championship, 7 Bridges was named Champion Small Sized Brewery and its Heritage Superdry Rice Lager took Champion Beer of Asia.
Order this: a Dragon to start, then work through the guest taps on Đông Du.
2. Pasteur Street Brewing Co.

Founded by John Reid and Alex Violette, Pasteur Street helped prove that Vietnamese ingredients belong in craft beer. It now runs twelve taprooms in Saigon, but the original, tucked up a staircase off Pasteur, is still the best place to drink it. The Jasmine IPA (6.5%) is the signature, and unmistakably local. Passion Fruit Wheat Ale (4%) is the heat-of-the-day choice, and the Cyclo Imperial Chocolate Stout (13%) is a dessert that happens to be a beer.
Order this: a tasting flight, then a full pour of whichever surprised you.
3. Heart of Darkness Craft Brewery
31D Lý Tự Trọng, Sài Gòn Ward (District 1) · daily 11am–midnight
Named after the Joseph Conrad novella and brewing since 2016, Heart of Darkness is the city’s hop-forward brewery. Its current core range leans hazy and bold: Dream Sensations Hazy IPA, The River IPA, Quietest Creature Lemongrass Wit and the Eloquent Phantom Imperial Stout. Kurtz’s Insane IPA, the beer that made its name, still turns up in reviews, but it is no longer part of the core list.
Order this: Dream Sensations, or the lemongrass wit if it is 35°C outside.
4. East West Brewing Co.
181–185 Lý Tự Trọng, Bến Thành Ward (District 1) · Sun–Wed 11am–midnight, Thu–Sat 11am–1am
East West opened in 2017 and calls itself Ho Chi Minh City’s first in-house craft brewery. It is a short walk from Bến Thành Market and has since grown to Da Nang, Hai Phong, Quy Nhon and Phu Quoc. The range sticks to well-made classics: East West IPA, Pale Ale, Summer, Pilsner and a Rosé. There is a weekday happy hour, and a beer special that makes the pilsner one of the cheapest good pours downtown.
Order this: the IPA, with a pilsner chaser if it is on special.
5. BiaCraft Artisan Ales

BiaCraft first brewed in Saigon in 2014 and has the best beer names in the city: every house beer is Vietnamese slang. Trăm Phần Trăm (“100 percent”, the Vietnamese “bottoms up”) is a 4.4% crush ale, Lùn Mà Láo a 5.2% blonde, Xấu Mà Chảnh a 6.5% IPA and Biết Chết Liền an 8% double IPA whose name is a fair warning. The taps also carry a wide range of other Vietnamese craft beers, which makes BiaCraft the easiest place to try several breweries in one sitting.
Order this: a Trăm Phần Trăm at 5pm, and call the coin toss.

Belgo brews Belgian-style beer under a Belgian brewmaster and serves it alongside a Belgian menu. Nguyễn Văn Thủ is the original, with more than 2,000 Google reviews. The range runs Blond, Amber, Lotus IPA, Cherry and a Wit brewed with kumquat, Persian lime and cumin. The one to try is Full Moon, a dark ale spiced eight ways that Belgo says is brewed only at night, under a full moon.
Order this: Full Moon, if only for the story.

Rooster is the craft brewery for people who don’t want a craft beer bar. Its “Tiệm Bia Gà” taprooms are neighbourhood places with a simple rule: our beer, your food. There is no kitchen, so bring whatever you like from the street outside with no surcharge, and bring the dog too. The beers, brewed at its own brewery in Cần Giuộc, are properly Vietnamese: Ô Long (4.8%) is brewed with oolong tea, there is a Đắk Lắk Nitro Stout (4.8%), and a 7.5% Double IPA for later in the night.
Order this: an Ô Long, and a bag of something grilled from the nearest street vendor.
8. Belgica Brewpub

Belgica bills itself as the first traditional Belgian-style brewpub in Vietnam. Head brewer Steven Heselmans brews three beers on site with Belgian malt, so what you drink was made a few metres away. It is a quieter alternative to the Xuân Thủy strip, with indoor and outdoor seating and a European-inspired menu. Our advice: go for a long lunch rather than a big night.
Order this: ask what came out of the tanks most recently.
9. Steersman Brewery

Steersman left its old taproom on Phan Kế Bính in 2026 and reopened on Phạm Viết Chánh in Binh Thanh. TripAdvisor still lists the old address, so don’t follow it. It is an evening-only spot, open until 2am at the end of the week, and reviewers rate its fruit hard sodas as highly as its beer. Try the mango hard soda alongside its Flying Bees beer.
Order this: a mango hard soda, then a Flying Bees.
10. Malt Saigon
46–48 Mạc Thị Bưởi, Sài Gòn Ward (District 1) · daily 3pm–midnight · happy hour 3–7pm
Malt doesn’t brew its own beer, and that is the point: with more than 24 local craft beers on tap, it is the best place in the city to taste across Vietnamese breweries without crossing town. It is a relaxed downtown bar with a shuffleboard table and has, this year, been giving away a free beer on Fridays to anyone who beats the staff at it. The four-hour happy hour is the longest on this list.
Order this: whatever the bartender is excited about this week.
