The short answer
For breakfast with your dog, go to Roast & Smoke in Thảo Điền, which opens at 7am and has a garden where dogs are welcome and a bowl of water appears without asking. For a dog that wants to meet other dogs, WagWel Rescue on Trần Ngọc Diện is a rescue café with an off-leash dog park. For a drink after the walk, most of our partner bars in Thảo Điền and Bình Thạnh let dogs in, and several have happy hours that start before 5pm.
We rebuilt this guide in October 2026. The old version listed more than fifty places, most of them from 2023 and 2024, and we could not confirm a current dog policy for most of them, so they came off. Everything below allows dogs on its own Google Maps listing, its own website, or in recent reviews, and every address uses the ward names that replaced the districts in 2025. Policies change, and “dogs allowed” sometimes means the terrace only, so a quick message before you go is never wasted.

1. Roast & Smoke
188BE14 Nguyễn Văn Hưởng, An Khánh Ward (formerly Thảo Điền). Sunday to Thursday 7am to 10pm, Friday and Saturday 7am to 11pm.
A smokehouse that opens at 7am, with a leafy open-air garden that is the main reason it tops this list. Reviewers describe it as a pet-friendly BBQ café where staff welcome dogs in the garden and bring a bowl of water. The brisket is cooked low and slow for twelve hours and the bacon is smoked in-house, which makes the breakfast bun the thing to order before the heat sets in.
Happy hour runs 2pm to 6pm every day, with buy one get one free on beer and a discount on wine and cocktails.
2. Refined Coffee & Cocktails
14 Tôn Thất Đạm, Sài Gòn Ward (formerly Bến Nghé). Daily 9am to midnight.
District 1 is short on dog-friendly cafés, which makes Refined useful: coffee from 9am, cocktails and wine later, and dogs allowed according to its own Google listing. It works as a stop between errands downtown, or as the place to wait out an afternoon storm with a dog under the table.
3. The Blacksheep at Malandro
98 Nguyễn Văn Thủ, Tân Định Ward. From 8:30am until late.
Café in the morning, restaurant at lunch and bar at night, all in one building, and dogs are allowed throughout according to its listing. Handy if you want somewhere to settle for a few hours rather than move the dog between three places.
4. The Rabbit Hole Irish Sports Bar
38 Quốc Hương, An Khánh Ward (formerly Thảo Điền). Opens 3pm.
An Irish pub with a beer garden, which is what you want with a dog: space, shade, and nobody minding a lead under the bench. Go to the Quốc Hương branch; the second Rabbit Hole on Phạm Viết Chánh does not list itself as dog-friendly.
Happy hour is 3pm to 7pm daily: buy two, get one free on draught beer, menu cocktails, wine by the glass and snacks.
5. High Tide
154 Nguyễn Văn Hưởng, An Khánh Ward (formerly Thảo Điền). Monday to Friday 3pm to midnight, Saturday and Sunday from 11:30am.
A restaurant and pub on the river road, and one of the few places on this list open for a weekend lunch. Dogs are allowed according to its listing.
Weekday happy hour, 3pm to 7pm: happy-hour beer prices and 50% off wine and cocktails.
6. 7 Bridges Brewing
15B/12 Lê Thánh Tôn, Sài Gòn Ward (formerly Bến Nghé). Daily noon to 2am.
The District 1 taproom of a Saigon brewery, with its own beers on tap and a full kitchen. Dogs are allowed according to its listing, which makes it one of the easier places downtown to eat a proper meal with the dog along.
Happy hour is 50% off drinks. Times vary, so check the happy-hour map before you go.
7. Rafters Sports Bar
86 Phạm Viết Chánh, Thạnh Mỹ Tây Ward (formerly Bình Thạnh). Opens 4pm.
Bình Thạnh’s sports bar, with pool tables and live music as well as the screens. Dogs are allowed according to its listing.
Happy hour is 4pm to 7pm daily with 50% off draught beer and cocktails, then free-flow draught from 7pm to 9pm.
8. Terroir Wine Bar
85/7 Phạm Viết Chánh, Thạnh Mỹ Tây Ward (formerly Bình Thạnh). Opens 6pm.
A wine and cocktail bar that has moved from Đề Thám to a lane off Phạm Viết Chánh, so ignore older listings. Dogs are allowed according to its listing, and it carries the biggest member discount on this list.
Happy hour is 6pm to 8pm: 50% off cocktails, 50% off Bia Saigon and house wine at 100,000₫.
9. Umbala
14 Street 11, An Khánh Ward (formerly Thảo Điền). From 5pm.
The cocktail bar that used to be Bardo, now Umbala, with live music upstairs. Dogs are allowed according to its listing, which still carries the old name.
Happy hour is 5pm to 8pm daily: buy one, get one free on cocktails, mixed drinks and craft beer.
10. W.A.L.L Bar
4 Street 50, An Khánh Ward (formerly Thảo Điền). Opens 4pm.
A small, quiet bar for wine or beer, which suits a dog that does not enjoy crowds. Dogs are allowed according to its listing.

11. MixTape Drinks
40 Đặng Thị Nhu, Bến Thành Ward (formerly Nguyễn Thái Bình).
Tacos, craft beer and a record-shop feel near Ben Thanh. Dogs are allowed according to its listing.

12. WagWel Rescue
24/2 Trần Ngọc Diện, An Khánh Ward (formerly Thảo Điền). Daily 9am to 9pm. Entry is 100,000₫ per person.
This is what used to be R House, now under new management and a new name. It is a rescue café for dogs and cats, with an adoption centre and an off-leash dog park, so it is the place for a sociable dog and the closest thing Saigon has to a true dog café. If your dog is nervous around a crowd of other dogs, pick somewhere further up this list instead.
13. The Snap Cafe
32 Trần Ngọc Diện, An Khánh Ward (formerly Thảo Điền). Daily 7:30am to 10pm, last orders 9:30pm.
Thảo Điền’s family garden café, with a playground in sight of the tables, and it lists itself as dog-friendly on its own website. The answer when the kids and the dog are both coming. Adult mains run about 250,000₫ to 350,000₫.
14. XLIII Coffee
19 Street No. 2, Journalists’ Village (Làng Báo Chí), An Khánh Ward (formerly Thảo Điền).
Specialty coffee in a courtyard built on traditional Vietnamese lines, with a cool tiled floor that dogs appreciate in the heat. The café’s own site says pets are welcome inside and out, and water bowls are on hand.
What it costs
A coffee at the cafés on this list is in the usual Thảo Điền range, and a main at Snap is about 250,000₫ to 350,000₫. WagWel charges 100,000₫ entry per person. The real savings are at the bars: most of the partners above run a daily happy hour, from buy-one-get-one at Umbala to 100,000₫ house wine at Terroir, and Saigon Scene members get 10% off at each of them, 15% at Malandro and MixTape, and 20% at Terroir. Every place here was checked in September and October 2026. We only included venues whose dog policy we could confirm from their own Google listing, their own website or recent reviews, and we used each venue’s current address. Places that said nothing about dogs, or that we could not confirm as trading, were left out even if they were on the old version of this page.

Thảo Điền is the easiest neighbourhood, with Roast & Smoke, The Snap Cafe, XLIII Coffee and several bars that allow dogs. In District 1, try Refined Coffee & Cocktails or 7 Bridges. In Bình Thạnh, Rafters and Terroir on Phạm Viết Chánh both allow dogs.
